Sustainability Report (CSR)
Duravit's sustainability strategy
The climate mission is a building block of Duravit's overarching sustainability strategy and is aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. We regularly review the effectiveness of the measures we have introduced, adapting, expanding and supplementing them where it makes sense to do so. All measures can be assigned to four overarching fields of activity:
Sustainability goals by 2030
Ceramics have proven their worth as a material for thousands of years, and they will continue to have their place in a carbon-neutral future. Durability, resilience and the use of purely natural raw materials give them properties that can fulfill the desire to protect the environment and conserve resources. At the same time, we are working across the company to keep our consumption of resources and raw materials as low as possible, while also keeping our emissions as low as possible. We aim to reach an important milestone in our climate mission by 2030. This includes the following sustainability targets:

Facts and figures, as well as further information on our current sustainability projects around the world, can be found in our latest sustainability report.

Responsible use of water
Responsible water management is an essential part of our strategy. This addresses the production process as well as product-related optimizations to ensure that the resource is used sparingly by the end user.

Reduced water consumption in production
In order to reduce water consumption, our Hornberg site already uses 60% recycled water, which is more than 40,000 m³ per year. The proportion of fresh water is constantly being reduced. Water treatment is also strongly encouraged at other sites, partly within production and partly for watering green spaces.

Responsible use of water in production
Our products are continuously optimized to conserve resources. For example, using the water-saving button has saved 290 million m³ of fresh water in Europe over the last 10 years. We optimized the rinse cycle 15 years ago. In addition, the UWL (Unified Water Label) transparently classifies the water consumption of our products for the end user.

Climate protection measures
Duravit does not rely on just one technology to reduce CO₂ emissions during the firing process when manufacturing its ceramics. Instead, we are taking a variety of measures to prepare for a climate-neutral manufacturing process.

CO₂-neutral production in Canada
"Duravit goes green" is an initiative for a sustainable, automated production process to achieve climate-neutral production. In July 2023, construction began on a 35,000 m² building that will be powered by 99.6% green electricity. New technologies will reduce emissions to zero by the time production begins, which is planned for 2025.

Responsible consumption and production
As a complete bathroom supplier, Duravit's mission is to treat resources with respect and to provide particularly durable, sustainable products. Our quality promise implies a lifetime product guarantee. To achieve our goals, we rely on new technologies, sustainable materials and environmentally friendly logistics.

Lifetime warranty on ceramics
We are so confident in the quality of our products that we offer a lifetime warranty on many ceramics. When developing and manufacturing ceramic products, we place the greatest emphasis on precision, sustainability and quality.

Sustainable consumption and production
We work with sustainable, PEFC-certified wood or innovative, newly developed materials such as DuroCast Nature, the first recyclable mineral cast material. Products like Sustano follow a life cycle principle in which recycled materials are used to make new shower trays.

Social commitment and employee satisfaction
We are aware of the responsibility we bear for the environment, our employees and future generations. As an integral element of our sustainability strategy, social sustainability is particularly aimed at our employees and their well-being.

Water & sanitary for Indian schools
Duravit supports the goals of the World Toilet Day campaign founded by the United Nations Water. As part of our CSR program, we have already renovated or converted toilet facilities in nine schools in the Gujarat region in recent years. This gives around 3,200 children access to hygienic sanitary facilities.

Wellbeing and security as a basic framework
We are particularly concerned about safety in the workplace and respect for human rights, as well as the long-term preservation of the physical and mental health of all employees. The well-being of our most important resource, our employees, is our top priority. Equally important to us is the involvement of all employees in the implementation of our ambitious sustainability goals.
Certifications
Duravit plays a pioneering role in the industry by participating in recognized testing and certification systems and by being a member of leading associations.
