Our commitment to respecting human rights and the environment for Duravit AG and its affiliated companies
Duravit looks back on over 200 years of tradition as a globally responsible company. In this context, the recognition and respect for human rights and the environment are part of our self-image. This declaration of principles expresses our responsibility within our value and supply chain. It adopts the principles of our code of conduct and supplements them. In doing so, we implement applicable laws and regulations, respect internationally recognized standards and ensure that we prevent human rights and environmental violations in the course of our business activities, as well as enable those affected by such violations to access remedies and complaints channels.
We are committed to improving the human rights situation along our global supply chains and to promoting sustainable social development. Our social responsibility is anchored in the core business of Duravit AG and our subsidiaries.
Accordingly, we are responsible for respecting and complying with the Code of Conduct both within the group and in our business relationships with our business partners. To ensure human rights due diligence, management steers business conduct within the group in cooperation with its own employees. This includes, among other things, the implementation and enforcement of the supply chain due diligence law and the Supplier Code of Conduct. We ensure that they are applied through appropriate training.
To avoid human rights violations and ensure compliance with our environmental due diligence obligations within our supply chains, we identify and assess the corresponding risks using an FMEA (failure mode and effects analysis) and use the results to develop preventive and reactive measures. These include, for example, the acceptance of the Supplier Code of Conduct by suppliers. In the event of deviations, action plans are developed together and their effectiveness is monitored.
As part of our risk assessment, we consider the supply chains of our A and B suppliers with regard to compliant sources of supply. We ask our suppliers about specific risks in the form of a supplier self-assessment. If we identify a potential risk in our assessment based on the supplier data, we take further measures such as supplier audits. We see our supplier management as an ongoing process to ensure constant communication with our suppliers and to document continuous improvement. We disclose the results of our supplier management in an annual report.
A point of contact has been set up for internal and external complaints under the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act. This is designed to address concerns related to human rights violations or environmental issues not only in our supply chains but also at our own sites. This information can be provided anonymously by email or by post to the Compliance Department and will be documented accordingly. Each report will be treated confidentially, carefully checked and processed in accordance with the legal requirements of the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act.
We expect our employees and suppliers to comply with the applicable international standards and frameworks for respecting human rights. The following conventions serve as guidelines in this regard:
- The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights
- The conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO)
- The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms
- OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises
