Where the North Sea and Baltic Sea meet and the light of the dune landscape creates a special atmosphere, the Color Hotel Skagen opens up new spaces for relaxation and encounters. Two new wings with a total of 32 rooms blend in with the landscape and give the building a clear architectural line. As the largest hotel in the city, it offers modern rooms, a restaurant serving regional cuisine, a wellness area with sauna and outdoor pool, and a wide range of leisure activities.

The design by Arkitema Architects picks up on the shapes and colours of the surroundings and translates them into a durable, energy-efficient construction. Dark cladding combined with warm wood accents characterise the façades. Generous windows allow plenty of daylight to flood into the interior while also opening up views of the dune landscape. Balconies with light railings and wooden decks echo the clear architectural language and lend the buildings transparency and lightness. This approach continues inside: the bathrooms combine clarity with natural materials – complemented by bathroom solutions from Duravit that round off the overall concept.

Calm tones, clear forms

Light-coloured natural stone tiles in greige and sand tones form the basis, while warm wood surfaces and white ceramics create a warm balance. Bathtubs and countertop washbasins from the Luv series emphasise the Scandinavian character and combine clear forms with homely warmth. The wall-mounted toilets and furniture washbasins from the ME by Starck series fit in seamlessly. The purist design appears light and elegant, while the high-quality materials retain their form and function even under heavy use in hotel operations.

Space to arrive

The clear design concept continues in the rooms, where it creates an inviting atmosphere. Light colours, plenty of daylight and natural materials reinforce this impression and create a calm environment. Large windows with wooden frames open up the view of the landscape. Upholstered beds, rattan and fabric seating, and carefully placed details such as lamps and plants give the rooms a mixture of modernity and gentle cosiness. The result is a retreat that combines contemporary comfort with the individual touch of a boutique hotel.
