Shower Bases with a Timeless Design
Good to know
What should I look out for when buying a shower base?
Shower bases are as individual as their owners. Before you buy a shower base, it is therefore advisable to first write down your specific needs, wishes and requirements for a shower base. Only when you are clear about the various features and aspects can you start the actual planning and make the perfect selection.
1. Shower base shape
- rectangular, square, quarter circle
2. Shower base size
- 80 x 80 cm - 180 x 90 cm
3. Shower base material
- Sanitary acrylic shower bases: pleasant and smooth finish, light, robust, easy to install, completely dyed, UV-stable and colourfast
- Mineral cast shower bases: non-slip, warm feel with an elegant finish, stone look and feel, completely dyed through, high surface hardness and density, self-supporting, scratch-resistant
- Tip: Duravit Shower bases made of the mineral composite DuroCast Nature are also recyclable and therefore particularly sustainable.
4. Color of the shower base
- Sanitary acrylic shower bases: Glossy white
- DuraCast UltraResist Shower bases: Charcoal, White, or Concrete
- DuroCast Nature Shower bases: White matt, anthracite matt, light grey matt, greige matt, dark grey matt and white gloss
5. Depth of shower base
- With a border (height from 2 cm – 6 cm) or at ground level without a border, with the necessary slope to allow water to drain off. Various installation options allow for flexibility during installation and offer the greatest possible design freedom.
6. Coating of the Shower base
- Acrylic Shower bases: optional non-slip coating
- DuroCast UltraResist shower base: the material already has this property (slip resistance class B)
- DuroCast Nature shower base: the material also has this property (with a matt color, even with anti-slip class C)
Care instructions for shower bases

DuroCast® UltraResist and DuroCast® Nature
Shower bases made of the solid surface material DuroCast® UltraResist or DuroCast® Nature can also be cleaned with a soft cloth and warm water. Detergents, standard cleaning agents and eraser sponges can also be used to help with stubborn dirt or stains. However, abrasive cleaning agents such as scouring cream, scouring cloths or hard sponges should be avoided, as should concentrated acids or alkalis (e.g. caustic soda/potash lye/drain cleaner).

Acrylic
Shower bases made of acrylic should be cleaned with a soft cloth and warm water. Abrasive cloths and aggressive cleaning agents should be avoided. Scratches and superficial damage can also be repaired with a repair kit.
Shower base accessories
Wall profile
The Duravit wall profile for the shower bases in the D-Code series is used for sound insulation. It is 3,300 mm long and 70 mm wide.
Sound insulation set
The sound insulation set for shower bases offered by Duravit can be purchased additionally on request. According to the testing and certification of the Frauenhofer Institute, it meets the requirements of VDI 4100 and DIN 4109 for sound insulation as well as the stricter Swiss standard SIA 181 on unfinished floors (when installed flush with the floor).
Shower bases made of DuroCast do not necessarily require a base frame, unless there is sufficient space (floor depth). The advantage is the easy installation and the uncomplicated adjustment of the base height, so that the upper edge is flush with the tiles.
Shower base drain system
The performance of the shower base drain has been optimized by developing a new drain system that can handle increased water flow from large shower heads and rain showers.
