Duravit AG awarded gold medal by EcoVadis

February 06, 2026

A milestone for sustainable operations

  • EcoVadis gold status and top-5% ranking
  • Defined climate goals by 2030 to reduce carbon emissions across all scopes
  • Increased transparency and responsibility thanks to local supply chains, climate-neutral processes, and certifications

It took just a year for Duravit’s Hornberg site to make the jump from silver to gold in the EcoVadis assessment, placing the company squarely among the top 5% of organizations rated around the world. The EcoVadis award is a globally recognized standard for sustainability and rates companies in the areas of environment, labor & human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The gold status confirms that Duravit not only defines ambitious targets, but is also consistent in implementing them. Performance in the categories of sustainable procurement and labor & human rights, already strong, has now been improved on.

“The leap from silver to gold in the EcoVadis assessment shows clearly that sustainability is an integral component of our actions and shapes our decisions. The award confirms that we’re not simply treading water and defining targets, but we’re forging ahead to implement them,” said Duravit’s CEO Stephan Tahy.

“The gold medal isn’t an end point, but rather a further step on the journey of continual improvement. The aim is to significantly reduce the carbon emissions across all scopes by 2030. With this in mind, we’re currently analyzing our entire supply chain and working with our partners to develop measures to reduce the emissions in scope 3 in particular – the indirect emissions that arise along the entire value creation chain,” said Marcus Staudt, HSE Manager at Duravit.

Local supply chains and climate-neutral processes

At global level, too, Duravit prides itself on ensuring that its measures go beyond the minimum statutory requirements. These include a climate-neutral firing process, the implementation of the “local for local” principle with regional production along with investments in innovative technologies – all of which is the case with the recently opened ceramic plant in Canada. This initiative demonstrates a courageous approach to blazing new trails and is driving genuine change. The result: it sets a clear signal and defines new standards in the sector.

Transparency & certainty

The EcoVadis gold medal is a welcome addition to existing sustainability initiatives and certifications that represent transparency and verified standards. Duravit is a member of leading organizations such as the German Society for Sustainable Building (DGNB) and the Institut Bauen und Umwelt (IBU) and supports programs such as LEED for sustainable buildings. Duravit’s commitment additionally covers environmental product declarations (EPD) and international standards such as ISO 14001 for environmental management, ISO 9001 for quality, and ISO 50001 for energy management. These measures offer certainty for customers: verified criteria, transparent processes, and a clear drive for quality, energy efficiency, and responsibility.
