Marble bathroom

Classic aesthetics with a new look

Marble in the bathroom is associated with classic aesthetics and exclusivity. The natural and always unique pattern of this stone, which can only be quarried in certain locations, has inspired artists for centuries. But what types of marble are there? Where do they look particularly good? And with which finishes can the stone be combined?

The most common types of marble

Not all marble is the same. This exquisite stone comes in different varieties, each of which is quarried in a specific area. A marble bathroom can be both modern and affordable. Although real stone is not cheap, those who do not want to compromise on aesthetics can also consider a bathroom with a marble look. High-quality alternatives, such as porcelain stoneware, often even offer practical advantages. These are usually modeled on the look of real marble. The easiest way to distinguish between them is by color.

By the way: We can also advise you on which colors work particularly well with it in the bathroom.

White marble

Bathrooms with white marble are true classics and look particularly elegant. However, white marble is rather rare. If you want to furnish your bathroom with white marble, you can opt for the famous Carrara marble, for example.

Beige marble

Bathrooms with beige marble generally have a slightly calmer effect than those with white marble. This look is therefore ideal for relaxation. Portuguese Estremoz marble, among others, can be used here.

Gray marble

Gray marble

A bathroom that uses gray marble benefits from a natural, stone-like impression. Depending on your preference, this can be emphasized or contrasted, but the result is always impressive. One example of gray marble is the Afyon variety.

Blue marble

Blue marble

Blue marble gives your bathroom a maritime feel. This stone is often a work of art in itself, as the marbling is particularly striking in comparison and sometimes drifts into other colors. Its use should be carefully considered, but with the right surroundings, blue marble in the bathroom creates a spectacular look. One of the better-known varieties is the sea-blue Azul Macauba.

Red marble

Red marble

A bathroom with red marble brings together the best of both worlds. The red tones, which often appear too bright for bathrooms, are perfectly integrated thanks to the natural look of the stone. Conversely, the warm color ensures that the marble bathroom does not become too cold. Rosso Alicante is one of the best-known varieties here.

Black marble

Black marble

A bathroom with black marble looks particularly elegant. Not least because of its contrasting effect, black stone is very impressive. The light marbling helps to create a lively impression that is not too dark. For a black marble bathroom, there is, for example, the Nero Maquina variety.

Marble vs. marble look

Anyone interested in a marble bathroom faces not only aesthetic but also practical decisions. Because even though marble is an extremely high-quality material and a luxury bathroom with marble looks very authentic, there are certainly good reasons for choosing alternatives with a marble look.

Real marble is expensive and also requires a lot of maintenance compared to materials such as porcelain stoneware. Marble is also relatively absorbent, but water-repellent materials are generally more practical for bathrooms. Marble tiles in the bathroom should therefore not be installed in areas where they are exposed to large amounts of water, such as in the shower. Unlike marble, the alternatives are generally much easier to maintain and less expensive.

However, there are also potential disadvantages compared to a "real" marble bathroom. For example, substitute materials are sometimes not as durable as natural marble. Depending on the coloring method used for the material, real marble is also significantly more sustainable in some cases. And, of course, artificial marble look is not the same as the unique stone, which offers a resale value that should not be underestimated.

In summary, this results in the following advantages:

Where can marble be used in the bathroom?

Marble tiles are certainly a suitable option for the bathroom in appropriate places. But a marble countertop can also make an impression as a vanity console in the bathroom. If you want to keep the amount of marble in the bathroom to a minimum, we recommend accessories such as soap dispensers made from this high-quality stone. When combined correctly, even a small accent is enough to give your bathroom a stylish and high-quality touch with marble.

Which finishes can be combined with marble?

While an all-marble bathroom is certainly an option, it is by no means the only way to go. If you want to keep your bathroom looking modern with marble, we highly recommend combining it with other materials that are currently on trend. But how can marble be combined particularly well with other elements?

Metal

Metallic tones, such as those found in bathroom faucets, can add striking accents to the bathroom. A marble bathroom with gold faucets can create a particularly high-quality impression—especially if it is a black or white bathroom.

Ceramics

Even though combining marble and ceramic is not always the most obvious choice, when done correctly it can create a pleasing visual effect. For example, a built-in sink in a marble console can create a harmonious overall look.

Wood

Even though wood is often seen as rustic and thus seems to contrast with the luxury of a marble bathroom, this combination is particularly effective. This is because the warmth of the wood counteracts any potential coldness of the marble. Especially when combined with green marble, it creates an aesthetic that is both natural and luxurious.
