DuroCast®

Sustainable material with the highest design standards

Sustainable production, robust in use, high-quality design – that's DuroCast® solid surface material. The non-slip material is ideal for use in the bathroom, not least because it is particularly easy to clean. Four different versions ensure that DuroCast® can meet a wide range of requirements.

DuroCast® Plus – a classic bath material that stands the test of time

DuroCast® Plus is made from a single material. This means that the ceramic material, which is completely white through and through, appears particularly homogeneous. However, should signs of wear ever appear on this durable material, they can be easily removed without leaving any residue. The matt, velvety surface is pleasantly warm and soft to the touch.

Series with DuroCast® Plus

The special feel and homogeneous appearance of DuroCast® Plus surfaces are shown off to their best advantage in bathtubs. The tubs in the Cape Cod and Luv series, as well as the free-standing bathtubs and pre-wall versions of the Aurena and Collection One series, are each made of DuroCast® Plus – for an especially pleasant bathing experience.

DuroCast® Smooth – versatile variety

Thanks to its gel coat, DuroCast® Smooth is characterized by a robust, easy-to-clean and UV-resistant surface that impresses with excellent material properties as well as a wide range of surface options. The gel coat allows for a variety of color schemes and extraordinary structures – with a choice of glossy or matte finish.

Series with DuroCast® Smooth

The versatility of DuroCast® Smooth is particularly evident in the colored toilets of the Vitrium series, designed by Antonio Bullo. The material makes it possible to design the entire bathroom in one color. The low weight of the material is particularly useful for the built-in bathtub of the Aurena series.

DuroCast® UltraResist – extremely resilient

DuroCast® UltraResist receives a flawless finish thanks to two layers of lacquer. These also give the material properties that are particularly advantageous in the bathroom: with its non-porous surface, DuroCast® UltraResist is easy to clean and particularly resistant to scratches and dirt. The extremely durable material even exceeds the requirements for impact resistance.

Series with DuroCast® UltraResist

The special resilience of DuroCast® UltraResist is demonstrated to great effect in the Vitrium series of sinks. Even the double washbasin in the Bento Starck Box series is made of this material, as are the free-standing bathtubs in the D-Neo series. The shower tray in the Stonetto series is particularly noteworthy – not only does it have a stone look, but thanks to DuroCast® UltraResist it is also extremely durable.

DuroCast® Nature – highly sustainable

DuroCast® Nature is even more sustainable than the other materials. This is because it is fully recyclable. It is also particularly light without sacrificing robustness – this is guaranteed by the easy-to-clean gel coat. The non-porous surface creates a pleasant feel and a noble finish, which, thanks to modern colors, opens up a wide range of possibilities in bathroom design.

The material properties of DuroCast® Nature also make it particularly easy to install: for example, shower trays can be adapted and shortened by up to 100 mm on each side during installation at a construction site without any special effort. In addition, the low weight facilitates handling and reduces transport-related CO₂ emissions.

Series with DuroCast® Nature

Thanks to DuroCast® Nature, the shower tray from the Sustano series is fully recyclable. In addition, the material can be cut, allowing it to be supplied in a wide range of sizes and customized to individual requirements.

The sustainable manufacturing process of DuroCast®

DuroCast® saves CO₂ in contrast to conventional ceramics. This is because of the low drying temperature, which differs from the energy-intensive ceramic production process.

With DuroCast®, the raw materials used are automatically mixed and prepared for the casting process. This results in a homogeneous casting compound that is poured into appropriate molds. In the case of DuroCast® Plus, UltraResist and Smooth, the material is composed primarily of natural minerals and resin as a binder. DuroCast® Nature, meanwhile, consists of polyurethane mixed with marble powder.

The casting process is followed by two drying stages: in the first step, the liquid casting compound hardens in the mold in a heating chamber. In the second step, the product is removed from the mold and placed in a separate warehouse in the kiln, where it is tempered at temperatures of up to 80°C to relieve tension. During this phase, the material is finally hardened. Once they have cooled down, the finished products receive the crucial finishing touch in the polishing cabin.
