It is important that the flow of water into the basin leaves enough room for hands while also avoiding any splashing.

Over the basin rim

In the case of above-counter basins without a tap platform, the faucet is installed next to the ceramics, on the furniture or on the console. The height of the faucet plays a more significant role here: The spout must reach over the basin rim and guide the flow of water reliably. Wall-mounted faucets keep the area around the basin clear and provide for a neat and tidy setting featuring the ceramics as the centerpiece. As the connections are in the wall, their positioning needs to be decided on at an early juncture.
