Small bathtub in a bright bathroom

Small bathtubs

Maximum comfort in a compact space

Some bathrooms are too small for a traditional bathtub. However, small bathtubs with a well-thought-out design still allow for relaxing baths. They are space-saving and, despite their size, offer surprising comfort. Small but mighty—because luxury is possible even in small bathtubs!

Key points at a glance:

  • Making the most of small bathtubs: Compact models let you enjoy a relaxing bath even in small bathrooms.
  • Opt for space-saving designs: Space-saving and corner bathtubs provide more room to move and make the most of the available space.
  • Customize your comfort: A variety of materials, installation options, and whirlpool features offer both wellness and style, even in a compact design.

Small bathtubs: Wellness in a compact size

Small bathtubs are the ideal solution for anyone who doesn’t want to miss out on the pleasant relaxation that a bath provides. While standard bathtubs literally run out of space in a small bathroom, a small bathtub really comes into its own. Thanks to their compact dimensions, almost any bathroom can be fitted with a small bathtub.

The category of small bathtubs also includes space-saving bathtubs. The name covers the range. They are characterized by a distinctive trapezoidal shape: wide at the back and narrow at the front. This allows the bathtub to take up as little floor space as possible. The unique design of these space-saving bathtubs provides more freedom of movement in the bathroom while also serving as a true design highlight.

Small bathtubs differ from conventional bathtubs only in their more compact design. Duravit has developed special bathtubs in a variety of styles to suit even the smallest bathrooms.

Size

There is no clear-cut definition of the size at which a bathtub is considered small. Given the standard German dimensions of 170x75 cm and 180x80 cm, a bathtub as small as 160 cm in length can be classified as a small bathtub. For example, the smallest model in the Duravit range is 140 cm long. Because small bathtubs take up less space, they fit perfectly even in small niches.

Material

Small bathtubs can be made either from cast stone or acrylic. Both materials have proven equally effective in bathrooms. The choice ultimately comes down to your personal preferences. These materials are appealing to the touch and offer excellent design possibilities. However, cast stone is typically found in larger models.

Installation types

Due to architectural constraints, you may find that only a small corner bathtub is a viable option. If you want to install the small bathtub against a wall, you have three options: you can choose a pre-wall bathtub, a bathtub with the corner on the left, or one with the corner on the right. You should take this into account during the planning phase.

A small freestanding bathtub, such as one from the D-Neo design series, is also an option, though it is rather uncommon, as it does not really save space despite its compact dimensions.
