Variations of double sinks
From a technical point of view, double sinks are defined as ceramic sinks with one or two inner basins, which are equipped with two sink faucets. Colloquially, however, they can also be understood as two separate ceramic sinks on one piece of furniture. The following variants are possible as "double sinks" in the bathroom:

Double sink with two taps and two bowls
This design is probably the most common variant. It consists of a ceramic sink with two separate basins. This separation creates an additional storage area in the middle. This sink is equipped with two faucets, each assigned to an inner basin. Matching vanity units are also available for the Duravit double sink.

Double sink with two taps and one inner basin
The biggest difference to the first variant is the ceramic. Here, there is a large, continuous basin. The two sink faucets remain. You are also welcome to add a vanity unit to your double sink.

Two sinks as a "double sink"
A third option in the bathroom is a double sink with two completely separate basins. For example, two countertop sinks can be placed on a wide console plate (also called a washbasin plate). This requires two separate connections and siphons. Since you can simply combine two single sinks as you like, you will mainly find them among our Duravit sinks.
Vanity unit to match the double sink
When matching the ceramic appliance to the matching furniture and vice versa, attention should be paid to the nature of the ceramic appliance. Is the underside ground or unground? The matching vanity unit can be selected based on this and the dimensions. These two ceramic variants are available to choose from:

Polished underside
A polished ceramic sink is designed to be combined with a piece of furniture and must therefore be placed on a console plate (also known as a washbasin plate). You can optionally extend this design with a vanity unit or substructure.

Unpolished underside
Depending on the model, unpolished ceramics can either be mounted on the wall on their own or combined with a vanity unit. The underside is fully glazed so that it can also be effective on its own and is protected against external influences. The Vanity unit should therefore be suitable for unpolished double sinks. However, it cannot be combined with a console or washbasin countertop. As with all Duravit sinks, we also offer the perfectly matched furniture for double sinks. This creates a perfect unit in terms of design, functionality and optimal use of space.
