Minimalist chic in Connecticut: a villa gets two Duravit bathrooms

Villa Old Greenwich

Minimalist chic in Connecticut

The owners of the Victorian villa in Old Greenwich, a suburb of Connecticut, are creating a modern interior to counteract the opulent exterior of their home. When renovating the children's and parents' bathrooms, interior designer and architect Blandine Seguin from Nous Studio was therefore tasked with creating a look that was light, simple and as minimalist as possible. Added to this was the challenge of a defined budget and the desire for high-quality designer pieces, such as those from Duravit.

The owner of the villa is involved in design on a daily basis through her work and prefers a calm, Scandinavian interior style. When the two bathrooms were being remodeled – the master bathroom and the children's bathroom – the main aim was to accentuate the light rooms. Blandine Seguin therefore focused on creating a harmonious whole in the first step; mirrors and bathroom furniture were selected to match. For the master bathroom, the architect chose a piece of furniture from the DuraStyle series by Duravit and Matteo Thun, who has made a name for himself with aesthetic and economic sustainability.

She chose the simple DuraStyle oak double vanity unit, which offers plenty of storage space. The light wood also creates a warm atmosphere in the bathroom. A special highlight: the two integrated Starck 3 washbasins from Duravit are seamlessly connected to the DuraStyle furniture using the f-bonded method. This gives the ensemble a very puristic and light look. Walls, floor and the DuraStyle bathtub from Duravit are tiled in uniform white. This makes the bathroom look larger and brighter.
