Surrounded by lush vegetation, the graceful residence rests like a nest on the cliffs with an unobstructed view of the wide sea and the endless horizon. The topography not only protects against the weather, but also against prying eyes. Casa Dos Mores is characterized by floor-to-ceiling windows that wrap around the entire house except for one wall, allowing it to merge with its surroundings.
The design is by the Portugal-based architect Marlene Uldschmidt, who implemented the project with great attention to detail. "The power of nature was a major inspiration for this project. It is a place that you feel instantly drawn to – for life," says the architect. In keeping with the minimalist modern overall concept, Marlene Uldschmidt chose the purist Luv bathroom series for the bathroom.
Transparency, light and wind
Marlene Uldschmidt knew how to use the rock formation architecturally. The entrance leads to the upper floor, where the open and light-flooded kitchen, dining and living area extends. The ambience appears natural and balanced, underlined by subtle accents such as soft gray tones and fine wood. From the entrance area, a staircase leads down to the light-filled bedrooms, including the master bedroom, which is directly connected to the bathroom. In the bathroom, the delicate countertop basins and elegant bathtub from the Luv series set accents: the bathroom series' puristically gentle design blends harmoniously into the overall concept and emphasizes the relaxed flair.
In natural harmony
The privileged location and mild climate make it possible to spend time outdoors all year round, which is why the architect paid particular attention to the design of the outdoor facilities. With a private pool, an open-air kitchen, an inviting fireplace and cozy seating, the outdoor area offers a comfortable living environment. In addition, the building impresses with its fine, linear design. The striking roof is the design highlight: the angled tip points to a centuries-old pine tree and symbolizes the symbiosis of nature and architecture.
Architect Marlene Uldschmidt also took a number of measures in the name of sustainability. Thanks to state-of-the-art technologies such as a heat pump and several photovoltaic and solar panels, the house is completely self-sufficient.
