At Duravit, sustainable responsibility creates security and transparency

The bathroom manufacturer's management system meets the key industry standards of ISO 9001 for quality and is subject to a continuous improvement process. All sites also follow a systematic environmental and energy management policy and are certified according to ISO 14001 and ISO 50001. Since 2011, sustainability reporting has been carried out in accordance with the new G4 guidelines of the internationally recognized Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

As a member of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), Duravit supports the DGNB system, which is used to objectively describe and evaluate the sustainability of buildings over their entire life cycle.

In addition, Duravit is part of an initiative of building product manufacturers in the "Institut Bauen und Umwelt" (IBU), which is committed to promoting greater sustainability in the construction industry. For the positive environmental properties of its products and its sense of responsibility with regard to resource-saving construction, Duravit has been awarded the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) by the IBU for the product groups of ceramic sanitary ware, acrylic sanitary ware and DuroCast®. By creating the EPDs, the company provides comprehensive information about the environmental impacts of its products throughout their life cycle.

As a member of the Green Building Council (USGBC), Duravit supports the internationally recognized committee that promotes efficient and energy-saving buildings for a sustainable future. One of its initiatives is the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program for green building. It recognizes buildings that are designed and built to be particularly sustainable.

At the product level, Duravit also offers its customers and partners a high degree of transparency and security: the European Water Label, which was created by an association of 75 European bathroom manufacturers, voluntarily discloses the water consumption of products, thus enabling an objective comparison. The WCs of the design bathroom outfitter are classified in the green area of the EWL scale due to their low water consumption (< 3.5 liters). By registering with WaterSense, the leading US testing organization, Duravit WCs are officially certified to save 20% water compared to conventional models without compromising on function and performance.

Duravit bathroom furniture production carries the PEFC seal of quality. PEFC is the largest institution for ensuring sustainable forestry through an independent certification system. Wood and wood products with the PEFC seal are certified as coming from ecologically, economically and socially sustainable forestry.
