Double bathtubs
Key points at a glance:
- Choosing the right bathtub shape: Rectangular, oval, or trapezoidal bathtubs offer different levels of comfort for relaxing baths for two.
- Look for comfort and size: Double bathtubs 180 cm or larger, along with center drains and ergonomic backrests, enhance comfort while soaking.
- Enhance your wellness experience: candles, music, bath products, or whirlpool features make sharing a bath even more relaxing.
Who are double bathtubs suitable for?
Two-person bathtubs are ideal for couples. But which model best suits your needs? In addition to the available space, the shape of the bathtub, its capacity, the material, the size, and the installation method are all crucial factors in choosing the right two-person bathtub. To enhance the sense of comfort, they are often larger than conventional bathtubs. At Duravit, all rectangular bathtubs 180 cm and larger are available as two-person models.
In addition, we offer additional features and accessories that enhance the sense of well-being in the bathroom—regardless of the type of bathtub. The series and model are key factors here. For example, there are bathtub models that can be optionally equipped with a neck rest. Or you can choose a whirlpool bathtub for two people, which provides a true spa experience and pampers you from head to toe.

Types of Double Bathtubs
Depending on the shape of the tub, there are either two backrests facing each other or side by side. In some cases, there is a single sloped backrest that is wide enough to allow two people to sit side by side. In bathtubs designed for two people, the drain is located in the center so that both users can enjoy full comfort while reclining. Trapezoidal or pentagonal bathtubs, in particular, are often purchased with the intention of being used by two people. Our Paiova series also takes its name from “Paio,” which means “couple” in Italian.
The required size of a double bathtub depends on the height of the bathers and the layout of the bathroom. The length of the bathtub corresponds to the distance from the hips to the feet. The tub height can be determined based on the length of the upper body. However, these measurements may vary depending on the angle of the backrest. The water capacity is directly related to the size of the bathtub. The larger the interior of the bathtub, the more water the model can hold.
