Duravit's free-standing bathtubs are available in a wide range of designs
Whether freestanding or semi-freestanding as a pre-wall variant, whether round, square or oval – freestanding bathtubs are available from Duravit in many designs. When choosing your favorite, you should consider the following:
What should you bear in mind when buying a freestanding bathtub?

Range of motion
If you decide on a free-standing bathtub, you should make sure that there is sufficient distance to walls and other bathroom furnishings all around it so that the tub can be used from any side if desired. To make the design of the free-standing bathtub stand out more, it should be given the appropriate space to do so.

Dimensions
It is important to note that the shape of the interior cannot always be determined from the shape of the exterior. This is because freestanding bathtubs always have a panel or seamless cladding. Our freestanding bathtubs are available in two sizes: the larger models measure approximately 180 x 80 cm (l x w) and can therefore be used by two people. Smaller models, on the other hand, are about 160 cm long and 75 cm wide. These naturally offer less interior space, but allow you to enjoy the luxury of a freestanding tub even in slightly smaller bathrooms. The dimensions given here are for guidance only and may vary slightly depending on the model. For a good overview, you will always find the exact external and internal dimensions of the respective model on our product pages.

Supply and drain
With a freestanding bathtub, the drain pipe is significantly longer than with a built-in tub, which can make it more difficult to create a slope. In addition, the water must also be supplied through the floor instead of through the wall. If the bathtub is only installed later, you must therefore expect major reconstruction work, because the floor for the pipes must be opened and holes for the mounting must be drilled into the floor. This plays a significant role in underfloor heating systems and should be evaluated and carried out by experienced professionals.

Color
Regardless of the material, white is the most popular color for freestanding bathtubs. Freestanding bathtubs in black are particularly elegant and impress with their simple elegance. Duravit has created a sophisticated alternative with the two-tone bathtub from the Happy D.2 series, which combines both colors, thus setting an even greater accent in the bathroom.
Faucets for freestanding bathtubs
With a freestanding bathtub, you also have to think about the right faucet in advance. Basically, a distinction is made between a floor-mounted faucet and a faucet integrated into the edge of the tub for a freestanding bathtub.

Floor-mounted faucet
As the name suggests, a floor-mounted faucet is installed on the floor next to the freestanding bathtub. A freestanding bathtub faucet often has a single-lever mixer. In our range, you will also find a selection of floor-mounted faucets in different designs. All have an integrated shower holder for the hand shower supplied.

Bath rim fixture
The alternative is a faucet mounted on the edge of the semi-detached or detached bathtub. However, this only works with models that have a wide tub rim and is therefore rather unusual. If the tub rim of your detached tub is not suitable for this, installation in a brick tub base is also possible.
