Wellness meets selfness

The Inipi sauna: A place for relaxation and healthcare

Everything is somehow about wellness. Green tea with aloe vera. A massage with hot stones. However, today, a cup of wellness tea is far from enough. Anyone who wants to feel good also has to be physically active. According to trend researchers, selfness is a recent addition to the wellness concept and refers to the active element: not only do we want to enjoy the passive pampering experience but we also want to actively do something for our health. So regular sauna sessions during the cold months of the year are just the thing since they boost the immune system with lasting effect.

A sauna raises the body temperature, which not only stimulates the production of the body's own killer cells but also boosts the production of antibodies in the blood. In general, regular sauna-users are less often ill and get over infections more quickly. Taking a sauna stimulates thermal regulation so that the body can quickly adjust to changing temperatures. This makes sauna users more resilient when it is cold and damp outside.

The Inipi sauna by Duravit not only induces sweating for beneficial health effects but it also offers additional functions. The sauna user can individually adjust temperature, air humidity, coloured light and sound by remote control. Favourite combinations of settings can also be saved as user profiles. In addition, pre-set scenarios can be selected for variety: the Jungle, Desert, Asia, Mediterranean and Indian scenarios not only offer a specific air humidity and temperature but they are also accompanied by the appropriate sounds.
As a space-saving alternative, the Inipi B compact sauna offers maximum sauna pleasure, even when space is at a premium.

However, it is actually the cold shower that makes the sauna so healthy. The alternate hot and cold stimuli are the best way to put both the heart and circulation through their paces. When cooling down under the shower, the blood vessels contract again and the circulation stabilises. Fresh air also cools the lungs and increases the amount of oxygen in the blood.

The St.Trop steam shower is a possible alternative for sauna novices. Steam showers are sweat baths that are good for the circulation and that have a sauna-like effect. Temperatures in the steam bath are lower than in the sauna, however, the air humidity is almost 100%. This combination of heat and humidity relieves stress and is also cleansing, protective and relaxing.

Regular sweating in the sauna has a more lasting impact on the immune system than a daily cup of wellness tea. Thanks to selfness, relaxing in the sauna also promotes preventive healthcare. Even if a cold shower after visiting the sauna initially takes a little getting used to.
