Spazio Duravit Milan

Milan now boasts a new venue for design and architecture. In cooperation with VPM S.n.c., bathroom manufacturer Duravit opened its “Spazio Duravit Milano” in the “Via San Gregorio”. An experience world comprising bathrooms, design and wellness is now to be found there over an area covering some 400 square metres; it showcases the latest bathroom trends and translates them into comprehensive applications that can actually be experienced. A walk through the “Spazio Duravit” shows that the bathroom is currently experiencing a great transformation and is developing into an extension of the living area.

Complete bathroom furnishings

The topic “living bathrooms” formed the basis for the new showroom. This is fuelled by the idea that, today, people expect the bathroom to be more than just a place to take a bath, wash, clean their teeth or take a shower. The bathroom is evolving into a refuge that offers people an escape from the complex demands of modern-day life. However, the bathroom only becomes a refuge when considered as an overall concept. A pleasant and harmonious atmosphere is of the essence, with the right mix of elegant designer products, select materials, light, colour and diverse functions. As such, the scope of requirements for today’s bathrooms is no less complex than applies throughout the rest of the home. Welcome to the furnished bathroom!

Classical to trendsetting designs

In the implementation, the showroom benefits from Duravit’s experience with architecture and design. In the last 20 years, the bathroom manufacturer with headquarters in Hornberg in Germany has successfully pursued an explicit design strategy and has developed more than 40 projects in collaboration with high-profile names, such as Philippe Starck, Sieger Design, Lord Norman Foster, Phoenix Design, Massimo Iosa Ghini, Frank Huster and Eoos. Duravit designers preferably have an architectural background. The best example of this are the creations by the French star designer, Philippe Starck, who has turned his attention to the bathroom four times since 1992. His most prominent object in the showroom is the so-called “barrel” from the Starck 1 range. Since its launch 15 years ago, this vanity unit has become Duravit’s best-selling piece of bathroom furniture and can today be found in projects such as the Burj Dubai and the newly opened Formula 1 track in Abu Dhabi. In addition to this kind of “classic”, the focus is also on current trendsetters, such as the PuraVida range: PuraVida was developed as a complete range in collaboration with Phoenix Design and Hansgrohe and stands for a new, feminine lightness of touch in the bathroom.

From wood surfaces to light shows

Furthermore, the showroom illustrates that pieces of furniture in top-quality wood tones are now making their way into what was once the wet cell, where they exude their natural warmth. At the same time, they also act as linking elements and embue the room with its own special character: the washbasins have furniture panels, the shower tray has matching wood panelling and the panelled bathtub becomes an item of furniture in its own right with drawers, shelves or trays. In the “Spazio Duravit Milano”, the way in which the latest lighting and electrical technology can be combined with furniture to enhance the mood in the bathroom becomes particularly apparent in the mirrorwall concept: from sunny yellow and soothing red to magical blue or the colours of the rainbow in an alternating pattern.

Modern spa effects

This kind of emotional lighting atmosphere is the perfect backdrop for all kinds of spa products: whirltubs, pools, saunas and multi-function showers are presented over a large area. There is a special spotlight on the new “Inipi” sauna, designed by the EOOS design group. It impressively demonstrates how an original sweat lodge can become a modern design sauna with a transparent look. In addition, pool systems show how a recuperative and invigorating experience usually available in hotels can also be enjoyed within the comfort of one’s own four walls. At home, the completely private and intimate atmosphere simply adds to the spa effect.

Comprehensive project solutions

The “Spazio” not only showcases products but it is also aimed at professional target groups. Important ranges such as Starck 3, Architec and D-Code, which are used in projects throughout the world, are showcased in a dedicated area for architects and planners. The variety of solutions for both public and semi-public areas ranges from small corner washbasins and shower trays that fit flush with the floor to various barrier-free washbasins and WCs. The showroom complements Duravit’s professional training centre in Ravenna. So all manner of professional support is guaranteed. Join us on a journey of discovery into the world of modern bathroom design – a resource for all who work with and are interested in bathrooms.
