Mardan Palace Antalya

The Mediterranean Coast is one luxury resort richer: the Mardan Palace Antalya opened its doors on 1 June. Costing a total of 1.4 billion USD to build, it is Europe’s most exclusive hotel. In keeping with this high price tag, the building celebrates the return to the age of opulence. Each individual room of the 560 rooms and suites has been designed and furnished in such a way as to ensure that even the most discerning of guests will feel pampered. Of course, this also means that all rooms are fitted with interactive multimedia systems, flat screens and wireless Internet connections, as well as with toiletries by Hermès. Guests staying in luxury class can, amongst others, enjoy a “24-hour butler service”. In this way, the hotel gives its all to become the epitome of modern comfort and luxury. For its sanitary ceramics, the hotel relies on German bathroom specialist, Duravit. The manufacturer has its roots in Hornberg in the Black Forest, where the company was founded as long ago as 1817. Today, Duravit operates with 25 subsidiaries and is present in more than 80 countries. Production takes place at several national and international locations including a production site in Istanbul, Turkey. Thanks to innovative new developments created in collaboration with international designers, such as Philippe Starck, Norman Foster, Sieger Design, Phoenix Design or Eoos, in the last 20 years, the company has made an international name for itself and launches at least two new projects each year. The manufacturer thus boasts a very broad product range encompassing everything “from jeans to dinner jacket”, as Management Board Chairman, Franz Kook, likes to say. This has proved tremendously advantageous for this project: the Mardan Palace Antalya sanitary facilities are fitted with 48 different articles from the Duravit product range – from the small children’s WC to the extravagant cylindrical console basin, from the barrier-free washbasin and WC to the Philippe Starck shower tray. A large number of urinals have also found their way into the opulent super hotel. In total, the order volume comprises almost 3,000 items. After other successful projects such as the Burj Dubai, Duravit is thus further increasing its expertise in international project business. Despite the current crisis, management Board Chairman, Franz Kook, is hoping that this segment will continue to provide valuable momentum. Many projects have currently been put on ice but by no means shelved completely. Duravit has been active in Turkey for several years and, since 2002, has had its own production site at Tuzla near Istanbul. As the geographic interface between Europe and Asia, this also serves as an ideal location for developing neighbouring markets.
