Designer cooperations require high design creativity, as well as independence and the willingness to take risks in terms of the entrepreneurial direction. In the case of bathroom manufacturer Duravit, the courage to take risks seems to have paid off – a range of awards confirm the innovative strength of the design concepts that the bathroom manufacturer has launched on the market.
The new PuraVida bathroom range, the brainchild of Phoenix Design, has made an outstanding start: the range has already scooped the red dot award, the iF Product Design Award 2010, the Good Design Award of the Chicago Athenaeum, a gold medal in the ‘Good Design 10’ contest of the Deutscher Designer Club (DDC) e.V. and has been nominated for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany 2010. Designed as “a new poetry of lightness”, it obviously won over the jury members with its soft forms and gentle undulating movements.

The decision of Duravit to use the “Inipi” concept to take the sauna out of the cellar and place it in the bathroom and living area is also set to win multiple awards: it has been nominated for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany 2010, the iF Product Design Award 2010, the red dot “best of the best”, the DESIGN PLUS award and Focus in Silver. EOOS and Duravit have invested four whole years in this project and this involved searching for a historico-cultural model. The original sweat lodge of the Lakota Indians was transformed into an “award-winning” modern designer sauna with impressive hidden high-tech features.
